An 888.88-carat natural fancy black diamond, named Infinity, was unveiled publicly for the first time at the Dubai Diamond Conference on October 26, 2026. The stone was presented by Antwerp-based Diamond Trading NV at the event organised by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

Originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Infinity was cut from a 1,138-carat rough diamond acquired by Andrew Coxon on behalf of De Beers in 1975. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) examined the rough crystal and, in 2013, recorded it as the largest single-crystal natural diamond it had examined and reported on at that time.

The rough stone underwent cutting and polishing between 2022 and 2024, resulting in the finished 888.88-carat diamond. The process spanned nearly five decades from the rough stone’s acquisition to the completion of the polished gem. Infinity is currently owned by Diamond Trading NV.

Daniel de Belder of Diamond Trading NV said the stone retained characteristics reflecting its formation and movement from deep within the Earth to the surface. The company’s approach to cutting was guided by the diamond’s natural features rather than attempting to remove all visible traces of its geological history.

Brink’s, a security and cash management company, handled the diamond’s secure transportation to the conference.

The unveiling gave industry participants an opportunity to view the rare stone in person. No valuation was disclosed, and it was not confirmed whether the diamond was available for sale.
