ICA | GemLab India has inaugurated a gemological laboratory in Surat, Gujarat, expanding the organization’s testing and reporting services into India. The facility will serve manufacturers, wholesalers, traders, retailers, jewellery brands, designers, industry professionals and consumers.

The laboratory will provide Diamond Reports, Coloured Gemstone Reports and Jewellery Reports. Its services will include identifying whether diamonds are natural or synthetic, along with testing and reporting on coloured gemstones and jewellery.

The Surat facility is intended to bring gemological testing closer to manufacturing and trading operations, enabling businesses to access analytical services within a major diamond processing and jewellery trading hub.

International Standards and Testing Services

The laboratory will follow the reporting standards and professional practices adopted across the ICA | GemLab group. The organisation said the facility would provide gemological information to support informed decisions across the jewellery supply chain.

Amira Hatta, Managing Director of ICA | GemLab Global, said, “India is one of the most important markets in the global gems and jewellery industry. Establishing a laboratory in Surat allows us to serve this market directly and bring our analytical capabilities closer to businesses across the jewellery supply chain.”

Kalpesh Desai of ICA | GemLab India said the laboratory aims to provide manufacturers, retailers, jewellery brands, designers and consumers with reliable gemological information through established testing methods and reporting standards.

Milan Shah, Co-founder of Kalamandir Jewellers, attended the inauguration as chief guest. Amira Hatta and Dr. Dietmar Schwarz, Chief Research Scientist at ICA | GemLab Global, were guests of honour.
