Dubai’s diamond trade reached a record USD 41.7 billion in 2025, exceeding its previous peak of USD 40.9 billion recorded in 2011, according to data from Dubai Customs released by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).
Total trade value increased from USD 35.8 billion in 2024, while volumes rose to 359.5 million carats, up 42.5% year-on-year. Dubai recorded simultaneous highs in both trade value and volume for the first time.
Natural diamonds accounted for USD 39.9 billion, representing 95.8% of total trade value. Natural polished diamond trade reached USD 18.7 billion, registering growth of nearly 25% compared with 2024. Natural rough diamond volumes increased approximately 34% to 205.2 million carats, the second-highest level on record.
Trade in coloured gemstones also reached a record USD 1.1 billion, increasing 48% year-on-year. Imports rose 68.8%, while re-exports grew 33.5%.
Since 2020, Dubai’s total diamond trade has increased 139% in value, while volumes have doubled. Over the same period, natural polished diamond trade value rose 246%, according to DMCC.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, attributed the growth to Dubai’s trading infrastructure, regulatory framework, access to finance and integrated precious stones ecosystem.
The figures underscore Dubai’s role in connecting diamond-producing countries, manufacturing centres and consumer markets through its trading infrastructure and international business network.
DMCC operates the Dubai Diamond Exchange, which provides facilities for diamond tenders and supports the trade through logistics, customs facilitation and financial services.
