The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the London Diamond Bourse (LDB) to strengthen commercial ties between the diamond trading communities of Qatar and the United Kingdom.

The agreement was signed in London on October 28, 2026, by Ghanim Al Saadi, Director of QDE, and Charlotte Rose, President of LDB. The non-binding agreement establishes a framework for business introductions, commercial cooperation and greater engagement between members of the two exchanges.

Under the MoU, both organizations will encourage reciprocal visits and participation in industry events, tenders, auctions, diamond viewings and other activities organized by either exchange. The partnership aims to support the natural diamond, precious stone and jewellery trade by creating opportunities for businesses to establish cross-border relationships and access new markets.

The agreement also focuses on promoting consumer confidence in natural diamonds and coloured gemstones through industry initiatives. It identifies adherence to recognized industry standards, including the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties and initiatives led by the Responsible Jewellery Council, as areas of cooperation.

Al Saadi said the partnership would help QDE members access international markets and strengthen commercial relationships, supporting Qatar’s ambition to become a connected hub for the global diamond trade.

Rose said the agreement would enable members to explore commercial opportunities and share industry expertise while strengthening links between established trading centres and emerging markets.

The partnership adds to QDE’s expanding international network. Earlier in 2026, the exchange signed MoUs with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, Shanghai Diamond Exchange, Tokyo Diamond Exchange, Borsa Diamanti d’Italia and the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China.

The latest agreement further strengthens Qatar’s engagement with established diamond trading markets and creates a framework for continued international trade and cooperation.
