First conceived in 2007, Flowerlace returns this year in five luminous creations crafted from yellow gold and diamonds: a ring, a between-the-finger ring, earrings, a pendant, and a transformable clip pendant. Each piece sketches the outline of an airy corolla, with fluid lines reminiscent of ribbons, paying homage to both floral motifs and the world of haute couture.
The collection draws on two distinct influences from the Maison’s heritage. The first is the Silhouette clips of the late 1930s—brooches that used lines and negative space to suggest floral forms while integrating ribbon-like flourishes to reflect jewellery’s deep ties with fashion. The second is the original Flowerlace high jewellery line of 2007, which married naturalistic forms with couture-inspired elegance.
Every jewel in the new series is handcrafted using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. Artisans sculpt generous, curving petals and delicate pistils adorned with gold beads and diamonds of varying sizes, creating a sense of natural movement and realism. The meticulous craftsmanship extends to gemsetting: only top-quality diamonds, ranging from D to F in colour and IF to VVS in clarity, are selected. Techniques such as beading are employed to produce refined finishes that echo the rounded contours of each bloom.
With Flowerlace, Van Cleef & Arpels continues its tradition of translating the poetry of nature and the sophistication of couture into timeless high jewellery creations—each piece a testament to the Maison’s heritage of innovation, artistry, and elegance.
