Mehul Shah has been elected President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), becoming one of the industry's key global representatives at a time when the international diamond trade continues to navigate evolving market dynamics. The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) congratulated Shah on his appointment, describing it as a significant milestone for India's diamond industry.
The Council stated that Shah's election reflects his longstanding contribution to the global diamond sector and his commitment to strengthening the international diamond trade. In a congratulatory message, GJEPC noted that the appointment is a proud moment for India's diamond industry and highlights the country's growing influence in global diamond governance.
Shah has been actively associated with the WFDB for several years, previously serving as Treasurer-General and as a member of its Executive Committee. He is also Vice President of Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), one of the world's largest diamond trading centres, and has represented India's diamond trade in several international industry forums.
The WFDB represents diamond bourses across the world and works to promote fair trade practices, ethical business standards and cooperation within the international diamond industry. As President, Shah is expected to lead the federation's efforts to address industry challenges, strengthen collaboration among member bourses and support the long-term development of the global diamond trade.
The appointment also reinforces India's position within the global diamond supply chain, with the country continuing to play a central role in diamond manufacturing, trading and exports.
