Christie’s London auction churns $12.3 million

Christie’s churning a successful sale of jewellery, at its auction in London recently, generating $12.3 million. The highlights of the sale were the historic Rosebery pearl and diamond tiara, bracelet and brooch. The tiara turned out as the top lot sold at the auction for $1.9 million.

also, natural pearls gained much demand, which was seen with the demand drawn by the Art Deco three- row pearl necklace and the two rare black pearl ear clips, by Van Cleef & Arpels. Both the pieces were sold at prices exceeding their pre-sale estimates. An art deco Tutti Frutti bracelet, sold for $1.9 million, which was the second top lot of the sale. The third came the Rosebery pearl and diamond bracelet and brooch, which was bought for $947,267.

A round 5.09 carat, F, VS1 diamond ring by Cartier, sold for $277,665 ($55,000 per carat), a rectangular, 5.32 carat, D, VS1 diamond ring sold for $189,125 ($36,000 per carat)., amongst other notable pieces of the sale.
