Terry Chu, Head of Jewellery, Phillips Asia, said: “This auction of important Jewels and Jadeite saw collectors from around the world competing for top quality gemstones and signed jewels. The results prove that the market for such jewels continues to be robust. The sale was led by a spectacular jadeite bead and diamond necklace, which achieved HK$7,530,000. Signed jewels by top jewellery houses ignited confident bidding, including pieces by Cartier and the iconic ‘Zip’ Necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels, among others. Of particular note was the sale of a 7.09 carat Golconda diamond ring, by Cartier selling for HK$4,590,000 (US$586,602), nearly double the low estimate.”

Graeme Thompson, Worldwide Head of Jewellery, said: “After only three years of Phillips’ presence in the region, the strong sale percentage by lot and value demonstrates our sustained and steady growth in the current market. Followed by the success of the Jewels sale in New York this June, which saw a 33% increase since the last auction, and the significant results achieved in Hong Kong this season, we look forward to continuing the momentum in our upcoming Jewels sale in New York on 9 December.”
