According to early reports, the first diamond testing and grading standard in Hong Kong has finally shaped up. The standard is an initiative of Gemological Association of Hong Kong, developed over four years. The new standard is recognised by 58 countries including the US, UK and Australia.

To apply this standard for their testing and grading services, laboratories must be qualified by certification by the state-run Hong Kong Accreditation Service. Although the standard has received a good response from the world diamond centres, it is yet in its nascent stage and it would take a bit of promotional initiatives to be well recognized.
