The festival of Dhanteras seems to have been a good boost to jewellery sales this year, as per report. The sale of gold, as jewellery and coins, a metal loved for its symbolism of auspiciousness in India rose 30-50 percent as per reports.

The good monsoons in the country have helped support a positive demand. Also, despite the price of gold being higher by around 15-16 percent over last year, yet it has been lower than the recent months, from Rs 31,480 per 10 gram in August and September, to touch about Rs 29,995 per 10 gram this festive season. Jewellers have experienced a good footfall, following a weak or lull period of demand in the previous months. Dhnateras set a positive prelude to the festive season. Jewellers noted a rise both in online and store traffic to see a spur in sales, as per reports.
