Kelly Rowland to be part of Diamonds in the Sky Las Vegas gala

The Diamond Empowerment Fund’s Diamonds in the Sky Las Vegas gala will host Kelly Rowland, the GRAMMY® Award winning artist. “We are thrilled to have such an enormous and big-hearted talent on board,” says Diamond Empowerment Fund Board President and Mercury Ring CEO, Phyllis Bergman. “It is so important to us to show how diamonds do good globally; and Ms. Rowland’s strong commitment to giving back is an inspiration and a testament to that message.”

The event which would host numeropus others tars expressing their support to the cause will also honour Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of the Republic of India for their progress towards national sustainability and the advancement of the diamond industry.

The event is slated on May 28 at the Four Seasons Ballroom in Las Vegas.

Within her commitment to philanthropic work, Rowland co-founded the Survivor Foundation with Beyoncé Knowles, her former Destiny’s Child bandmate, in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, to provide interim housing for victims and storm evacuees in the Houston, Texas. She continues to donate also to her local church in Houston. In 2006, Rowland featured along with other artists in ads for the ALDO Fights AIDS Campaign; in 2008, became a Global Ambassador for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation, which fights HIV through youth education campaigns worldwide. In 2010, Kelly Rowland helped establish her own charity, I Heart My Girlfriends, which focuses on the comprehensive empowerment of women and girls.

As a celebrity Rowland has won acclaim as a singer, songwriter, and actress, Rowland elevated pop R&B as a member of Destiny’s Child, one of the best-selling groups of all time. She was recognised as one of People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful People in the World” in 2013 and acted as a spokesperson for companies TW Steel and Caress, amongst others.
