The World Diamond Council (WDC) has appointed Ronnie VanderLinden as President and Indian industry veteran Anoop Mehta as Vice President, marking a new leadership phase for the global diamond trade body.
The announcement was shared by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), which congratulated Mehta on his appointment and highlighted his continued contribution towards strengthening the global diamond sector.
The WDC represents businesses and organizations across the international natural diamond value chain and works closely with governments, industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies on issues related to responsible sourcing, transparency, traceability and consumer confidence.
Mehta’s appointment is expected to further strengthen India’s representation within the international diamond industry. India remains a key global hub for diamond manufacturing and exports, making Indian participation in international trade organizations increasingly significant.
Anoop Mehta has been associated with the Indian gem and jewellery industry for several decades and has played an active role across trade and industry initiatives. His elevation to the role of Vice President comes at a time when the diamond industry continues to address evolving global regulations and sustainability expectations.
The WDC leadership appointments are expected to support ongoing collaboration across the global diamond pipeline while reinforcing industry-wide efforts around ethical trade practices and responsible business standards.
