The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) marked the inaugural World Diamond Day on April 8, 2026, with participation from stakeholders across more than 50 countries.
The initiative was designed as a social-first movement to unify the natural diamond industry and encourage participants to share authentic narratives around diamonds. Contributors included miners, manufacturers, designers, retailers, media, and influencers.
According to the NDC, the one-day activation resulted in a 30% increase in global search demand for natural diamonds compared to the weekly average. Social media activity also recorded a twofold increase in the use of #naturaldiamonds between April 7 and April 8.
In India and the Middle East, the campaign generated over 45 million social media reach, with more than 330 industry participants representing thousands of employees and clients. Retailers across India contributed, with participation from North, South, and West regions.
Global participation included jewellery brands and designers such as Boucheron, Repossi, and Gabriel & Co., along with auction houses including Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams, and Phillips.
Retail involvement spanned over 50 companies worldwide, including Signet Jewelers and regional players such as Malabar Gold & Diamonds, PNG Jewellers, and Joyalukkas.
Industry organizations including the Gemological Institute of America, World Jewellery Confederation, Shree Krishna Exports, Bharat Diamond Bourse, Hari Krishna Exports, Rosy Blue, and Julius Klein also contributed.
Operational activations were reported at scale. Bharat Diamond Bourse engaged over 70,000 participants through on-ground installations, while Hari Krishna Exports reported full participation from over 9,000 employees. Shree Krishna Exports involved 7,500 employees through internal initiatives.
Participation extended to diamond-producing regions including Botswana, Angola, Canada, Namibia, and South Africa.
