A 10.38-carat fancy purple-pink diamond believed to have belonged to Marie Antoinette achieved $13.98 million at Christie’s New York on June 17, more than doubling its high estimate.

Named the Marie-Thérèse Pink, the historic stone is associated with both the ill-fated French queen and her daughter, Marie-Thérèse. It has passed through multiple European royal collections over centuries. Newly mounted by celebrated jeweller JAR, the diamond drew strong global interest, sparking a competitive bidding round.

The sale underscores continued demand for rare coloured diamonds with exceptional provenance. As Christie’s noted, the combination of regal history, vivid hue, and a modern JAR setting contributed to the standout result.
