In 2007, Lucara Diamond was established through the collaborative efforts of Eira Thomas, Lukas Lundin, and Catherine McLeod-Seltzer. Later, in 2018, Eira Thomas assumed the dual role of President and CEO within the company.

The exact timetable for the anticipated transition in leadership has not been outlined by the company.

Eira Thomas has played an essential role in shaping the trajectory and accomplishments of the company's wholly owned Karowe diamond mine. This mine is globally recognized as the foremost source of premium Type IIa diamonds renowned for their exceptional size and quality, as underscored in Lucara's official statement.

Acknowledging Eira Thomas' extensive dedication to Lucara, the board expressed its gratitude for her contributions across many years, both as a director and, notably, over the past five years in her capacity as CEO.

During her tenure as CEO, Eira Thomas introduced a pioneering strategy for Lucara's diamond sales, specifically targeting rough stones surpassing 10.8 carats. This innovative approach was carried out in collaboration with HB Antwerp and consistently generated favorable revenue through superior pricing terms.

Eira Thomas also spearheaded the successful launch of Clara, an innovative and secure digital platform for diamond sales. Under her leadership, the Karowe mine reached its peak operational performance, and she, along with her team, orchestrated a substantial project financing debt package of $220 million to facilitate the advancement of underground expansion initiatives.

William Lamb, with more than 25 years of experience in mining project development and operations, is poised to assume a prominent role. He previously held the position of CEO at Lucara from May 2011 to February 2018.

Lamb's expertise extends across various facets of diamond and mining ventures, encompassing projects, process engineering, and operational roles at De Beers. His contributions to multiple public mining company boards further underscore his comprehensive industry insight. During his initial tenure with Lucara, he successfully oversaw the establishment of the original Karowe mine and its accompanying infrastructure.

Paul Conibear, the Chair of Lucara, conveyed the board's appreciation in a formal statement. He recognized Eira Thomas' leadership and her indispensable role in the accomplishments of the Karowe diamond mine. Conibear commended her steadfast commitment, exceptional team leadership abilities, focus on operational excellence, and her visionary approach to leveraging innovation and technology for the company's advancement. He also highlighted Eira Thomas' significant connections with local communities and stakeholders, nurtured through her diligent efforts and strategic foresight.
