Heritage Auctions recorded its highest-ever jewellery auction total as its Spring Fine Jewelry Signature Auction generated $9.71 million on May 4 in Dallas, led by a Kashmir sapphire ring that sold for $906,250.
The top-performing lot featured a 6.59-carat octagonal-shaped Kashmir sapphire set in platinum with trapezoid-cut diamond side stones. The piece exceeded its pre-sale high estimate of $600,000 by more than $300,000, underscoring continued collector demand for rare-origin coloured gemstones.
According to Heritage Auctions, the record-breaking auction surpassed the company’s previous jewellery sales benchmark of $9.2 million set in September 2025. Jill Burgum, Executive Director of Fine Jewelry at Heritage, said the auction saw strong bidding activity across categories, with multiple lots attracting competitive offers.
Other leading lots included a Cartier ring featuring a 20.03-carat fancy intense yellow diamond, which realized $625,000, alongside a 6.45-carat faint pink diamond that sold for $562,500 and a 4.93-carat light pink diamond that fetched $500,000.
Coloured gemstone jewellery also delivered strong results during the auction. A 100.31-carat Paraíba-type tourmaline sold for $275,000, while a 36.96-carat sapphire ring achieved $175,000, more than 11 times its high pre-sale estimate. Colombian emerald jewels and Van Cleef & Arpels pieces also performed strongly.
The results highlight sustained momentum in the high-value auction market, particularly for exceptional coloured gemstones, signed jewellery and rare fancy colour diamonds.
