The visiting delegation attending the Kimberley Process (KP) Intersessional in Mumbai was hosted at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) for an exclusive tour of the facility.

The delegation received a ceremonial welcome at the bourse, including a performance by the official BDB Band. The visit highlighted the significance of the Kimberley Process in supporting legitimate diamond trade, protecting livelihoods, and promoting peace across diamond-producing and trading nations.

During the visit, Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB, addressed the delegates and spoke about the role of the Kimberley Process within the global diamond industry. He also invited the delegates to tour the BDB facility and the India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC), located within the bourse premises.

In his address, Shah invited mining economies to showcase rough diamonds at the IDTC for viewing. He stated that creating a direct link between manufacturers and buyers operating within BDB could reduce travel-related costs and timelines for rough diamond sourcing. He also noted that the initiative could help mining entities achieve better prices for their rough production.

The delegates toured the BDB campus, including its infrastructure, security systems, and the IDTC facility dedicated to rough diamond viewing. Delegates were divided into groups, with each group guided by BDB committee members who explained the operations and facilities during the visit.
