HRD Antwerp has chosen to theme its 16th HRD Awards as – ‘Al la Carte | A culinary journey’, reports say. The theme requires designers to create ‘sparkling and copious jewelry, seasoned with diamonds.’ The design must interpret the theme and contain at least 1 carat of diamonds, reports say.

The laboratory is accepting entries for its biennial international diamond-jewelry design competition before October 31, 2014. Contestants are to submit the entries on the dedicated website www.hrdawards.com, and are not restricted to the number of designs. The actual diamond jewelry pieces have to be submitted before March 15, 2015, reports say.

An international jury will judge the best of the entries. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of US$10,000 and four finalists will be selected an awarded cash prize of US$2,500 each. The collection decided as the winner will be exhibited and promoted in Belgium and internationally, through 2015 and 2016. An opening exhibition of the winning piece will be held on May 1 until October 31, 2015 in the Belgian Pavilion at the World Expo in Milan, Italy.

HRD is inviting designers all over the world to participate and render original designs, reports add.
