GILC identifies topics to be addressed at its Tucson 2014 meeting

The Gemstone Industry & Laboratory Conference (GILC) has prepared a list of topics it will present for discussion during its Tucson 2014 meeting. Each topic on its agenda will be briefly presented by industry experts and also placed open for discussions. The meeting is slated in the Tucson Convention Center on February 3.

GILC’s agenda will include: Edward Boehm from RareSource addressing A Comparative Overview of Inclusions in Spinel”, Anthony Smallwood from Gemmological Association of Australia and Maxine O’Brien from National Opal Miners Association (NOMA) will give a presentation titled “Why Australian Opal is Unique- Defining its Gemological Properties”. Also, Dr. Lore Kiefert, Chief Gemologist of the Gubelin Gem Lab will speak on “Sapphires from the Baw Mar mine, Mogok, Burma”.

GILC chairman Sushil Goyal will address the meeting with a welcome speech. The meeting will be moderated by GILC vice-chairmen Edward Boehm and Bear Williams. GILC is organized by International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) and its Tucson 2014 meeting is supported by AGTA.
