Shri Dajikaka Gadgil of PN Gadgil passes away

Shri Dajikaka Gadgil, a driving force behind the renowned jewellery retail entity PN Gadgil Jewellers passed away on 10th January, 2014 after a cardiac arrest in his hometown, Pune, Maharashtra, India. The business was pioneered and established by his great grandfather, Shri Ganesh Narayan Gadgil in the year 1832.

Born in Sangli, Shri Dajikaka has driven the business of his family on strengths of relentless efforts and dedication of over 75 years. His passion towards the business saw him engaged in it even until the age of 99 years.

Saurabh Gadgil, Dajikaka Gadgil’s grandson and successor, stated, ‘It is very hard to imagine that he will not be with us anymore, giving us his advice and encouragement and helping us with his dedication and decisive action. He was my mentor as well as my grandfather and has great contribution in making me the person I am today. We will miss him beyond measure.’

Shri Dajikaka Gadgil was looked upon beyond his contribution to the family business, to being also a stalwart businessman of the state of Maharashtra. Gadgils have played a very important role of bringing together all the Jewellers in Pune as well as Maharashtra and entailing various social initiatives.
