Cheng Yu-Tung of Chow Tai Fook leads CNBC’s 'Richest Diamond Owner' survey

CNBC has conducted a survey to identify the “World's Richest Diamond Owners”, in which Cheng Yu-Tung, the honorary chairman of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, led the list with wealth estimated at $19.6 billion.

The survey, based on net worth data recently published by Wealth-X, searched those who are the world's wealthiest diamond investors among collectors and diamond and jewelry business owners. These individuals are known to own some of the rarest and most expensive diamonds.

Second in the list was Beny Steinmetz, the founder of Beny Steinmetz Resource Group (BSR Group),with an estimated net worth of $5.8 billion, reports say. Following him was Dan Gertler, founder and president of the Dan Gertler International Group (DGI), holding net worth of $2.6 billion; Anne-Marie Graff preceded her husband Laurence Graff who was in fifth spot, although with a net worth of $2.1 billion each. Lev Leviev was in seventh place with a net worth of $1.4 billion, followed by Jorg Bucherer and Fred Mouawad, each with a net worth of $1.1 billion, reports add.
