Fancy deep-blue diamond fetches $9.5 million

The stone was bought by Graff at Bonhams London auction

A 5.30-carat, fancy deep-blue diamond was sold at the Bonhams London auction, to Graff, for a value of $9.5 million or $1.8 million per carat, reports suggest. The stone, a cushion-shape blue diamond has been set horizontally in a mount pave-set in a Trombino ring made by Bulgari, circa 1965.

The stone attracted bidding from those present in the sales room and bidders across the world who participated via 25 telephone lines.
