Mark Cutifani, the present CEO of AngloGold Ashanti has been appointed as Anglo American’s new chief executive officer (CEO). He will be taking over the role from ‎Cynthia Carroll and will begin his tenure as CEO of Anglo American on April 3.

Carroll is to leave the company April-end. She has been CEO of the company since March 2007 and had served her resignation in October 2012.

Cutifani holds over 35 years of experience in the mining sector. He also has held some direct experience in mining operations, business development and corporate roles across a wide geographic base including six ‎continents, over 25 countries and in 20 commodities. ‎He also is the current president of the South African ‎Chamber of Mines.‎
