SRDSIL’s first rough diamond online auction gets underway

The auction generates revenues worth Rs 86 crore

Having hosted its first online auction of rough diamonds, Surat Rough Diamond Sourcing India Limited (SRDSIL) paved the way of its focus, which was to make diamonds directly sourced from mining countries, available to diamantaires. The auction sold rough diamonds worth Rs 86 crore or 46,500 carats of rough diamonds. from a total of around 57,000 carats of big sized stones valued at Rs 93 crore, placed on offer. The stones ranged from 50 cents to 20 carats. Majority of the rough diamonds were reported to be sourced from Russia and Zimbabwe.

Reports suggest that the winning bids were mainly from Surat and Mumbai. Centerac India Private Limited, the end to end internet solution provider, successfully developed and managed the auction.

SRDSIL is a diamond consortium formed by the big, small and medium sized diamantaires in Surat, India.
