Zale’s revenues rise 5.8% in holiday season

At the end of the holiday period spanning November and December 2011, Zale Corporation’s revenues jumped 5.8 percent y-o-y to $564 million. Its comparable-store sales rose 5.9 percent in the Christmas season last year, which was behind the rise in its comparable-store sales in Christmas season of 2010, which was 8.5 percent.

In the individual month of November 2011, Zale’s same-store sale rose 10.1 percent, while in December by 4.2 percent.

The Canadian jewellery brands of Zale, including Peoples Jewellers and Mappins Jewellers, saw a 0.2 percent increase in comparable store sales (15.6 percent in the same period of 2010). Also , the Zale jewelry kiosks (which makes up around 14 percent of Zale’s annual revenues), noted a drop of 2.1 percent in the comparable-store sales (a 4.2 percent rise in the same period of 2010).
