Sotheby’s to offer Golconda Pink diamond at its Magnificent Jewels sale

Sotheby’s sale of Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite slated on 5 October 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will be led by Jewels of India – in which will feature the Golconda Pink diamond amongst other rare jewellery associated with the exotic Mogul Kingdom.

The Golconda Pink diamond as named by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) - a Highly Important and Rare 9.27-carat Golconda Fancy Vivid Pink Diamond and Diamond Ring (estimate US$13 – 19 million). Its Type IIa classification signifies that it is among less than 2 percent of the world’s gem diamonds that are virtually free of nitrogen in their chemical composition. The Golconda Pink ranks among the world’s rarest and most beautiful pink diamonds owing to its Of impressive size, elegant emerald cut, exceptional purity and strong and vivid colour.

Sotheby’s sale will also offer an important selection of colourless and coloured diamond, gemstone, natural pearl and jadeite of superb quality- altogether offering 359 lots estimated to achieve a total of US$85 million.
