THE Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced the expansion of its Carlsbad campus offerings to include a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, which focuses on the business aspect of fine jewellery. Classes for the program begin on October 9, 2006.

According to Dr. Mink Stavenga, the dean of the GIA School of Business students at GIA would get a comprehensive business education with a specialised focus on the jewellery industry.

The degree has practical applications that extend beyond the jewellery industry. GIAs BBA program is the equivalent of any standard business degree granted at any accredited four-year university or college, so students can readily apply their BBA degree towards any industry or business.

To be eligible for admission to the BBA program, students must already hold an associates degree or its equivalent from an accredited college, university, or institute. For more information about the new BBA degree-completion program, visit www.gia.edu.
