According to reports, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) recently announced that Israel’s diamond exports rose to $780.9 million or 71 percent in November. While polished diamond exports rose by 49 percent to $524.1 million, rough diamond exports rose to $256.8 million or by 144 percent. The total rough and diamond imports rose by 75 percent to $695.6 million. Israel’s net diamond account, representing the excess of total exports over total imports, grew by 43 percent to $85.3 million.

These figures come as a change following the recent negative economic impact on the diamond industry. For the period between January and November, Israel’s net diamond account prevailed at an overall nine percent drop to $1. 04 billion. While polished diamond exports had slumped 41 percent to $3.63 billion, the rough diamond exports declined by 47 percent to $1.74 billion. Total diamond imports had dropped to $4.33 billion or 48 percent.
