Net profits decrease by 89% for Classic Diamonds

For Classic Diamonds (India), during fiscal 2009 that ended March 31, 2009, net sales dipped by 5 percent to $141.4 million. The company noted falling sales pattern for both its diamonds and jewellery product segments. Sales for the diamond segment dipped by 13 percent to $102.4 million in the said period, and the sale of jewellery slipped by 23 percent and amounted to $39 million.

Net profits for the year were lower by 89 percent to $745,625, while expenses decreased by 2 percent to $133.1 million. For the diamond segment, profit before taxes and interest decreased by 9 percent to $5.8 million and the profits for jewellery were down by 82 percent to $1 million.
