The Israeli Diamond Industry is preparing to participate at the second edition of the Macau Jewellery & Watch Fair, slated to be held between January 8-11, 2009 at the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Centre at the Venetian Macao Hotel. The Israeli companies will participate both as independents and as part of the Israel Diamond Pavilion hosted by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies. The keen participation by Israel come as a result of the show expecting a favourable number of Chinese buyers, a market IDI is keen to grow in.

The IDI has been active since some time to promote cooperation between the Israeli and Chinese diamond industry. It had opened the IDI Asia Pacific office in Hong Kong and a portal site in Chinese, and extending participation in trade shows across China like in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Moti Ganz, Chairman of IDI, and President of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association, as well as the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, stressed the importance of the Chinese market to the Israeli industry. He said: "We greatly value our strategic partnership with the Chinese diamond industry. It underscores our belief in the huge potential of the Chinese market for diamonds and diamond jewelry. Through participation in the Macau Fair our companies are showing their commitment to developing business ties with this market.”
