The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is likely to host its academic courses in Jaipur, at an upcoming education centre in the city. The GIA has already initiated spreading the word by talking to jeweller associations and the people likely to be part of the course. So far, encouraging responses have flowed in. The GIA has planned a curriculum of short term courses to begin in October and introduce its complete academic courses next year.

GIA had first launched its course in India, in Mumbai, where now it has opened a gem-testing centre.
