Tanishq has stepped foot into the US retail market, and opened its first store in Woodfield Mall, Chicago, which is part of its plan to open 25 stores in the US. The store will deliver both permanent and revolving jewellery collections. The company plans to initially retail jewellery along the themes of Yoga, Spring and Lotus, inspired by nature and philosophy.

The infrastructure of the store includes the Gemini Retail jewelry software from Wilton, Conn.-based MPI Systems Inc., which incorporates all store management functionality: a jewelry-optimised product database, inventory control, user-friendly POS with integrated credit card option, repair/special order creation for job bags and tracking, customer management, appraisals, active reporting, gift cards/registry, advanced imaging and bar coding.

The next store launch is expected to be in New Jersey.
