GIA India, in collaboration with the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS), Pune, trained 19 students on SWIFT Jewellery Design, a 5-day skill-enhancement training programme from Aug 18 - 22. This training, supported by GIA’s endowment fund, teaches the basic principles of design and composition so that students can gain an understanding of what goes into designing collections.

“GIA’s courses offer relevant hands-on education for those seeking to enter the global gem and jewellery industry. MKSSS is doing excellent work in educating girls and young women in India. Through GIA’s endowment fund, we were able to bring GIA’s world-class skill enhancement training programmes to women looking to make a mark in the industry,” said Ms. Nirupa Bhatt. “We’re thankful for the support of MKSSS and work closely with them towards educating women and helping them become self-reliant.”

MKSSS is a 123-year old institution committed to the “Empowerment of Women through Education” that currently runs more than 62 educational and other units exclusively for women and girls.
