Baselworld 2018 opens doors to visitors

As in past years, also the 2018 edition of Baselworld brings together the industry’s top players under one roof again. Five of the six highest-earning Swiss watch companies exclusively present their new products at this unique show. Baselworld’s exhibitors account for the overwhelming majority of Switzerland’s watch exports. And Baselworld likewise provides a stage on which the leading companies in the jewellery and gemstone industries can unveil their newest creations and their most precious rarities in front of a global audience.

René Kamm, Chief Executive Officer of the MCH Group, cordially welcomed Swiss Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard and all of the other guests to the opening ceremony. Kamm emphasized that Baselworld is currently undergoing a process of transformation, but in its core, Baselworld will remain what it has always been: “A unique meeting place for the best in the industry.”

Afterwards, Christoph Brutschin, member of the State Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, likewise had optimistic words to share with the guests at the opening ceremony: “Baselworld is and remains unique.” Brutschin is pleased that the watch industry is again experiencing an upswing and can look confidently ahead at the 2018 fiscal year.

Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard closed the festive ceremony.

Baselworld 2018 takes place from 22nd to 27th March.
