The fifth edition of the Jaipur Jewellery Show 2007 began on December 22, 2007, with an increased international participation at both the exhibit areas and on its discussion platform. The agenda for the talks centred around the transition occurring in today’s global jewellery industry. CIBJO President Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri, the Chief Guest of the event gave perspectives on sustainability and ethics, stating that operating in the industry requires transparency, defending the industry from the various challenges that could threaten its growth, and to positively influence the industry.

Adding to the talks were Guest of Honour, Vasant Mehta, Vice Chairman- GJEPC, Vimal Chand Surana, Convener- JJS and Rajiv Jain, Secretary- JJS. The inaugural ceremony was hosted by Spokesperson and Media Coordinator of JJS Ajay Kala.

The event housed 382 stalls, which included industry bodies like the Diamond Trading Corporation, Tanzanite Foundation, World Gold Council, Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion council and Platinum Guild. The JJS 2007, according to Vasant Mehta was a bigger platform to promote coloured stones, even bigger than the IIJS. Beginning with this year, the JJS will be promoting tanzanite for the next two years, instead of its earlier emerald promotion.

The event also paid tribute paid to its mentor - Rashmikant Durlabhji, whom Surana said had created a very strong team of organisers for the JJS. With each successive editions, the JJS is inching its way to be amongst the top international jewellery shows.
