Pluczenik opens manufacturing unit in Botswana

Govt. plans local gemmological facility

Belgium-based Pluczenik Diamond Company, a Diamond Trading Company (DTC) sightholder, opened a new cutting and polishing factory in Botswana on Tuesday April 17, according to a reports.

Speaking at the inauguration, Botswana’s President Festus Mogae said that due to the shortage of rough diamonds, it was only logical for companies such as Pluczenik to invest in Botswana – the world’s largest producer of rough diamonds by value.

Pluczenik is the fifth company to set up a diamond manufacturing plant in the country and has 100 trained employees.

Mogae also noted that Botswana government was planning to set up a gemmological facility in the country in order to reduce the turnaround times.
