Mountain Province appoints Rio Tinto’s Reid Mackie as VP Diamond Marketing

The company says the appointment is at a good time as it prepares for first sale from Gahcho Kué

Mountain Province Diamonds Inc., a 49 percent participant with De Beers Canada in the Gahcho Kué diamond mine in Canada's Northwest Territories appointed Reid Mackie as its Vice President Diamond Marketing. Mr. Mackie joins Mountain Province Diamonds from Rio Tinto Diamonds. His appointment is with immediate effect and began on October 15, 2015.

In his role former role at Rio Tinto Diamonds Mr. Mackie held positions of Manager Sales and Marketing for Argyle Pink Diamonds in Perth, Australia and handled pricing and sales of all Argyle pink polished diamonds including the Argyle pink diamond tender. As Senior Executive Trader in Antwerp, Belgium, he was responsible for the valuation and sales of rough diamonds from the Diavik, Argyle, Murowa, Ellendale and Merlin diamond mines.

Mountain Province President and CEO Patrick Evans said Mr. Mackie’s appointment was at a good time as, “we begin to prepare for the first sales of diamonds from the Gahcho Kué diamond mine. His considerable experience in taking new mine production to the market will benefit Mountain Province greatly as we seek to maximise revenue from our share of the Gahcho Kué production.” Mr. Mackie is a graduate of the University of British Columbia.
