Lucapa Diamond Co recovered four large diamonds over 10.8 carats each from Mining Area 8 of its Lulo mine in Angola, as per reports. The sizes of the four individually are - 37.28 carats, 17.15 carats, 14.69 carats and 11 carats. An additional light pink diamond has also been recovered at the same area, making a total of 11 large diamonds recovered from this area, reports say.

The diamonds recovered have irregular shapes and sharp jagged edges, which the company notes points to the surrounding kimberlite targets being the potential primary sources of these exceptional diamonds, reports say. There have also been additional indicators in the form of garnets and ilmenites.

The company has also identified the E259 kimberlite and two other kimberlites – L13and L15 as potential sources for large alluvial diamonds.
