A robbery involving jewels worth $19 million took place at a Cartier boutique in Cannes, just a few days prior to the film festival at Cannes, reports say. The film festival is the time of the year, when the luxury brands exhibit their jewellery by renting their heavy pieces to stars and celebrities to wear on the red carpet, as per reports.

Three robbers entered the Cartier store in the late hours of the morning, while one was waiting keeping guard outside the store. A customer and two employees were present at that moment. The robber was conducted within less than four minutes when the robbers took away jewellery and watches in a jewellery bag and a leather satchel. In the scurry to get out of the store, the robbers dropped some pieces on the road, which the store has retrieved, reports say.

The police are investigating the issue through the CCTV footage. The robbers fled in a stolen Mercedes, reports add.
