Exports of rough and polished diamonds from Botswana increased by 36 per cent in April 2010 to US$233.6 million from US$171.2 million in April 2009, according to news reports.

During 2009, Botswana's diamond exports fell 31 per cent in dollar terms to US$2.18 billion, and diamond imports slipped 17 per cent to US$451 million due to the worldwide economic recession.
