The UAE’s lab-grown diamond trade reached 76.9 million carats in 2025, marking a 91.5% year-on-year increase, while the value of trade rose 7.5% to $1.3 billion, according to Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

The growth comes as DMCC has launched a dedicated Lab-Grown Diamond Vertical, which will operate separately from its natural diamond and coloured stone activities.

Trade volumes have more than doubled since 2022, when the UAE recorded 36.8 million carats of lab-grown diamond trade. Imports and re-exports have grown at broadly similar rates during the period.

The new vertical is intended to bring together producers, manufacturers, traders, investors, finance providers, technology companies and industrial users as Dubai seeks to strengthen its position in the global lab-grown diamond trade.

“Lab-grown diamonds have reached the point where they need dedicated market infrastructure and a distinct economic case of their own, developed alongside the natural diamond trade rather than in place of it,” said Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive of DMCC.

The sector is also expanding beyond jewellery into industrial and technology applications, including semiconductors, diamond wafers, quantum technology, aerospace and precision engineering.

DMCC has hosted two lab-grown diamond symposia and plans to hold another in 2027. The UAE’s overall diamond trade reached a record $41.7 billion in 2025.
