Botswana followed closely, producing 28.2 million carats (24% of global volume) and nearly matching Russia in value with $3.308 billion (28.8% of global output).

The report also revealed a 10% decline in overall global rough diamond output, which dropped to $11.48 billion in 2024.

India emerged as the largest importer of rough diamonds, commanding 40% of global imports by volume and 39% by value. The UAE ranked second, importing 29% by volume and 24% by value.
