During his tenure as the Chairman of GJEPC from 1970 to 1971, Mr. Doshi played a pivotal role in establishing GII, the nation's first gemmological institute. His visionary leadership extended to the founding of several industry bodies, including the Precious Stone Importers Association, Diamond Exporters Association Ltd., and Bharat Diamond Bourse. His indelible mark on the global gem community was characterized by passion, integrity, innovation, and foresight.

Honours and Recognitions: A Life Well-Lived

Mr. Doshi's illustrious career garnered numerous accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award by the GJEPC in 2012. Serving as the Chairman Emeritus of GII and Shrenuj & Co., his family's erstwhile business, he continued to be a guiding force in the industry.

Born in 1922 in Palanpur, Gujarat, Mr. Doshi embarked on his career in the diamond industry at a young age. Under his leadership, his father's business transformed into one of India's foremost diamond manufacturing and exporting companies. Recognized as a pioneer in adopting modern technology and ethical business practices, he significantly contributed to the evolution of diamond cutting and polishing.

A Lasting Legacy

Mr. Kirtilal K. Doshi is survived by his two sons, a daughter, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on, marking an era of growth, innovation, and ethical standards in the Indian gem and jewellery industry.
