Udaipur: Tiffany & Co. brought its iconic Bird on a Rock to the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur for an intimate showcase that brought together high jewellery, design and the cultural heritage of Mewar. The event was hosted by Shriji Huzur Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Custodian of the House of Mewar.

A Six-Decade-Old Icon Reimagined

Originally created by legendary designer Jean Schlumberger in 1965, Bird on a Rock has become one of Tiffany & Co.’s most recognisable jewellery motifs. For the Udaipur showcase, Chief Artistic Officer Nathalie Verdeille reinterpreted the design across fine and high jewellery.

The collection translates the movement and posture of birds into sculptural forms crafted in diamonds, platinum and yellow gold. Alongside Bird on a Rock, the showcase featured Wings, a more abstract interpretation of the motif.

Jewellery Meets Mewar Heritage

The choice of Taj Lake Palace created a backdrop where Tiffany’s design heritage met Mewar’s architectural and cultural legacy. The programme began with an intimate breakfast for the Custodian’s friends and family, followed by the unveiling of the jewellery.

The day concluded with an exclusive cocktail evening, bringing together guests from the jewellery, fashion and luxury communities.

Beyond Bird on a Rock

The presentation also featured Tiffany’s signature timepieces, including the Tiffany Enamel Watch, incorporating the rare paillonné enamel technique, alongside Tiffany Eternity and Tiffany HardWear watches. The Sixteen Stone Mother-of-Pearl Ruby Watch further referenced Schlumberger’s Sixteen Stone motif through a combination of mother-of-pearl, diamonds and rubies.

At Taj Lake Palace, the Bird on a Rock became a link between two enduring traditions—Tiffany & Co.’s jewellery craftsmanship and the living heritage of Mewar—underlining the growing role of immersive, heritage-led experiences in luxury jewellery storytelling.
