The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) has confirmed that Angola’s ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P. have formally joined the organization, following completion of all legal and regulatory accession requirements. The announcement was made on January 22 in Mumbai.

ENDIAMA E.P. (Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola) is Angola’s state-owned diamond mining company responsible for managing the country’s diamond resources. SODIAM E.P. (Empresa Nacional de Comercialização de Diamantes de Angola) is the state-owned trading company and the sole authorized channel for Angolan diamond exports.

The membership follows the Luanda Accord, co-signed in June 2025 by diamond producing countries and industry stakeholders, including Angola, Botswana, De Beers and midstream representatives. The Accord commits signatories to collective action and financial support for industry-wide marketing and education initiatives through the NDC. Angola’s financial contribution to the Council was received as part of this process.

Sandrine Conseiller, CEO of De Beers Brands and Chair of the NDC, said, “The future success of the industry will be defined by our ability to work together to communicate the true story of natural diamonds – both their desirability and their ability to drive development. I am delighted to welcome ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P. as NDC members.”

José Manuel Augusto Ganga Júnior, Chairman of ENDIAMA E.P., stated, “Natural diamonds are the bedrock of Angola’s prosperity, providing stability and livelihoods for millions of our people. By joining the NDC, we are committing to sustained investment in global generic marketing executed by the Council.”

Eugénio Pereira Bravo da Rosa, Chairman of SODIAM E.P., added, “Joining the Natural Diamond Council strengthens Angola’s voice in the global diamond community and fosters collaboration that supports responsible growth, transparency, and shared prosperity across the industry.”

At the same time, the NDC Board is reviewing its governance framework to enable broader participation across the natural diamond value chain, with updates aimed at improving inclusivity, transparency and engagement.
