As a part of its ongoing Leadership Series, the event aimed to enhance industry awareness and bolster consumer confidence in gems and jewellery.

Dr. Wuyi Wang, Vice President of Research and Development at GIA (Gemological Institute of America), led the session, emphasizing the critical importance of accurate identification. “GIA's decades of independent research into natural and laboratory-grown diamonds form the foundation of our ability to differentiate them with complete certainty,” Wang remarked. “This ensures consumer trust, which is vital to the gem and jewellery industry.”

Facilitating the session, Sriram Natarajan, Managing Director of GIA India, highlighted the institute's dedication to advancing knowledge. “Our mission to ensure trust in gems and jewellery is built on nearly a century of pioneering research and education. We are committed to making our findings accessible to the global research community, the public, and the trade,” Natarajan stated.

Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB, underscored the exchange's role in fostering innovation and integrity within the industry. “This insightful session underscores BDB’s pivotal role in addressing key challenges and reaffirming Mumbai’s position as a global hub for diamonds, gems, and jewellery,” Shah said.

The BDB Leadership Series continues to serve as a platform for diamond traders, jewellers, and industry professionals, providing practical insights and a forward-looking perspective on the evolving global jewellery landscape.
