Mumbai-based Ankit Gems has been honoured by Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy for its contribution to the production of diamond-set medals presented to international champions, following the completion of a collaboration with Botswana’s state-owned Okavango Diamond Company (ODC).

Under the project, ODC entrusted Ankit Gems with the preparation and manufacturing of selected Botswana diamonds that were incorporated into commemorative medals awarded to champions on the global stage.

The initiative brought together Botswana’s diamond resources and Ankit Gems’ manufacturing capabilities. The diamonds used in the medals underwent a fully traceable production process, beginning with provenance verification and extending through digital mapping, cutting, polishing and multiple quality-control inspections.

According to the company, each stone was subjected to a detailed manufacturing workflow before receiving final approval for inclusion in the medals. The process was designed to ensure traceability and compliance with quality requirements throughout production.

Ankit Gems utilized Galahad planning technology during the manufacturing process. The company stated that facet alignment and symmetry were measured to micron-level precision to ensure that the diamonds met the required specifications.

The diamonds were cut at Ankit Gems’ manufacturing facility in Botswana, where the company carried out the processing and finishing stages of production. The project formed part of a broader effort to showcase Botswana-origin diamonds through a finished product linked to international sporting achievement.

The recognition from Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy acknowledged the collaboration between ODC and Ankit Gems and the successful execution of the project.

The initiative also highlighted the integration of Botswana’s diamond production capabilities with Indian diamond manufacturing expertise. By combining traceable Botswana diamonds with specialized cutting and polishing processes, the project demonstrated how cross-border industry partnerships can create value-added diamond products for international audiences.

The completed medals, featuring diamonds sourced through ODC and processed by Ankit Gems, were ultimately presented to international champions, marking the culmination of the collaboration between the Botswana diamond sector and the Indian manufacturer.
