Mining giant ALROSA is calling on its rough diamond-buying clients to declare their adherence to the firm's business Guidelines, to demonstrate their professionalism and responsible conduct.

The Guidelines on Responsible Business Practices require ALROSA ALLIANCE Members to fully share the objectives and principles of the Kimberley Process (KP) and voluntarily inform their business partners of the conflict-free origin of supplied goods, consider ethical business conduct to be vital to the success of the diamond industry, rigorously observe human and labor rights, and avoid discrimination, forced and child labor; are actively engaged in activities aimed at minimizing damage to the environment, and towards efficient and sustainable use of subsoil mineral resources.

The ALROSA ALLIANCE Guidelines were recently adopted by the company’s Executive Committee and form an integral part of the ALROSA ALLIANCE Logo license agreement, to be signed by long-term buyers of rough diamonds to endorse their status as a reliable buyer and to strengthen supplier-consumer confidence. By providing and using the ALROSA ALLIANCE Logo, ALROSA and its long-term customers declare their adherence to the Guidelines, commitment to their implementation in their business activities and in their dealings with business partners throughout the entire diamond supply chain from mine to retail.

The Guidelines are based on the highest global practices in business, internationally-accepted corporate governance standards and key international instruments, key documents of the United Nations, the laws of the Russian Federation, and the strictest industry initiatives for implementing responsible business practices.
