The newly-appointed board of state-run Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) has been approached by the Zimbabwean government to audit ZMDC’s sole and joint-venture diamond mining companies operating in Marange area, reports say. Incase any non-compliance is noted, ZMDC is asked to issue criminal charges against them, reports suggest.

The new Board was formed last month.

There has been suspicion of Zimbabwe losing out on large sums of money due to the clash between the mining companies and State figures representing national interests in those companies, reports suggest.
