Thai Night would be an event to remember for all those who witnessed it. Fascinating color stone jewellery coupled with enchanting ensemble designed by fashion Guru Manish Malhotra was truly wonderful.

The event was organized at the Majestic Ballroom of Intercontinental, The Grand at Mumbai by the Thai Gem & Jewellery Traders Association and The Department of Export Promotion of Thailand in association with The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council on August 30, 2007.

Presided over by Krik Krai Jirapaet, the Commerce Minister of Thailand, Boonyong Assarasakorn, Chairman of Advisory Board & Chairman of Indian Region Working Committee and Sanjay Kothari, Chairman GJEPC, the occasion celebrated the recently signed FTA between Thailand and India. The first development after the FTA is a joint venture MOU between Diamond India Limited and Thai-India Color Stone Limited, which was signed at the event. The brand that is formed out of this MOU is Pragati.

Mr Jirapaet appreciated the association between the two countries, Together we can do a lot of things. Indias potential is remarkable, therefore synergy & unity between India and Thailand would be beneficial for both the lands, he said. He further added, People should not look at Thailand as a small country but as a center of a bigger picture.

Sanjay Kothari agreed with the viewpoint and said, Its a good beginning. It will go a long way establishing strong association between the two places. We have to make a united effort to fight the competition which other luxury goods industry poses to us.
